The practical implementation of the C.E.O.’s duties are often directed through an
appointed Safety Officer (Safety Manager /Loss Control Officer / EHS Officer or
SHEQ Manager). Various titles and terms relating to safety are utilized within the
workplace and are generally interchangeable with the same essential goal – implementing
Health and Safety in the workplace. The key to a workplace that is safe and without
risk to the health of employees is quality training, based on a sound understanding,
and interpretation of legal requirements.
It is with this philosophy in mind that the "Safety Officer" skills program accredited
through HWSETA (Health and Welfare), was designed equipping potential Safety Officers
with the essential knowledge and management systems and tools, enabling them to
successfully manage and begin a career in the field of occupational health and safety
environment.
